The Master's degree programme "Master Atlantic Studies/ History, Culture and Society" offers students the opportunity to decide during their studies whether they want to focus on social, cultural, political and economic relations in the Atlantic region and Eurasia from a historical perspective or an interdisciplinary perspective in the humanities and social sciences. Against the background of historical and current globalisation processes and migrations, the course focuses on entanglements between Europe, Africa and the Americas. This Master's is the only degree programme in Germany where students can focus on relations in the South Atlantic region, as Hanover has a unique combination of African history (one of five professorships in Germany) and Latin American history, as well as expertise on the three continents in literature, cultural studies and the social sciences. In the  specialisation in history in particular, the degree programme is dedicated to all epochs from antiquity to contemporary history.
